Nice front picture of john ! Mind Games remix was and is a great sounding album now very much a great album!!! Nice review Andrew Thanks for all your Beatles inspiration!!!
Hello Mr. Dixon I really appreciate you showing this John Lennon Mind Games book Unfortunately, I will not be buying it because as a visually impaired person, I will not be able to read it However, it does sound like a really interesting book and I will encourage everyone to please buy it Once again, I thank you for showing this book I sent my blessings to you and I will catch you on the next video
Thanks for this preview Andrew, My copy is due to be delivered on Tuesday according to Amazon. I have the previous two books, and from what I've seen this latest edition continues the quality of those, so I'm really looking forward to reading this book. I shall also be going to see One Hand Clapping, but because of work commitments won't be able to see it until Saturday. All in all we have had quite a year packed with so many releases, one of the most prolific in my 45+ years as a Beatles fan, aside from 1980 when there was a slew of Beatles and Beatles related albums re issued that autumn, including of course John and Yoko's Double Fantasy.
I didn't know those (3) books existed. I love the Mind Games book in the 6cd set, though. So many people people of the recording sessions are still alive, and give a lot of interesting information.
I had this ordered from amazon a long while back. Early on, it was thought to be the book that went with the box. Sold separate, so if you didn't want it, you didn't have to pay for it as part of the box. Turned out that wasn't true. I figured it was an expanded version of the book in the box, so I canceled it. I'm not a big reader anyway.
Without the letter for context mine is a wild guess, but the 'Harold' that immediately sprang to my mind was Harold Wilson, erstwhile Prime Minister and the man behind the Beatles getting their MBEs. I'm just taking a punt though.
I’m surprised a little and not surprised to see so much of Yoko in these books, admittedly John was probably still with Yoko when he started writing some of songs but by the time he got round to making the album it was May Pang who supported him,and was his partner. Doesn’t look, she’s mentioned in any of the books, its like they are trying to manipulate the narrative 😮 It’s a bit like replacing Pete Bests head on the Hamburg pictures with Ringo’s head. 😊
In fact, this book puts these lazy, unfounded claims about the estate rewriting history to bed once and for all. There’s an entire _section_ dedicated to Yoko Ono herself addressing Lennon’s infidelity in vivid detail (pages 80-81). May Pang is credited throughout and is even listed in the index - both as their PA and his later love. Nothing is brushed aside by the estate, if anything, it’s emphasised for all to see. So, don’t fall for the rubbish spouted by Facebook clickbait junkies who need a scapegoat, shouting “Giles!” or in the past “Yoko!” or now “Sean!” because they’ve got some invisible axe to grind.
Didn't know about this series of John Lennon books, though I'm sure I've seen them on your shelves in your videos. I will consider obtaining them. Thanks for the heads-up, Andrew! Also will be interested in what you have to say about The Beatles U.S. albums re-release.
Enjoyed your video, mine is set to arrive Tuesday. Great books for that period of time in his life, have the other two as well. Looking forward to your take of the Capitol albums, take care !
The Mind Games vault has been well looted. The album remix sounds way better that the original [top marks] but the 'wealth' of addition material leaves me cold. Others will doubtless enjoy it but I'm unmoved. Each to their own, I guess.
Thanks Andrew, very helpful video. Early doors the book in the cube and the standalone book was listed as having a different amount of pages, having seen your edition I think that was an error . Amazon is listing it as having 288 pages
@@13thBeatleJr STINYC wasn't "skipped over" haha. Also it's a bit silly to think that from the little solo Lennon material there is, there will be anything left on the table.
Preordered this on Amazon for 22 pounds so couldn't say no. It looks way better than the 'Imagine' book they made a few years ago. I really hope they'll do a Double Fantasy book some time
Hi Andrew , on Amazon the mind games book is out on the 24th , but they deliver it on Monday 30th , that’s a wait of 6 days since publication day . I’m going to wait until the 24th and see if they dispatch my copy on the 24th & take it from there. According to your latest video it’s going to be a brilliant read , and that includes the one which came with the mind games Album ( CD’s 6 or 8 ) to be honest with you Andrew I’m disappointed with the new mind games Album , I prefer the original , I will try and get into it .
I am going through my books in the book cases and am annoyed with myself for allowing their condition to deteriorate to the extent that I've had to throw some out.
Does the book really tell what was going on in their lives? John was cheating on Yoko and flaunting it? John was drinking and drugging to the point that was unacceptable to Yoko? That they broke up before the album was finished and that he finished the album with May Pang by his side? Or does it rewrite history like most Yoko approved projects tend to do?
In fact, this book puts these lazy, unfounded claims about the estate rewriting history to bed once and for all. I agree, which is why I skipped any of the super deluxe editions. I did buy the 2 CD edition and the album does sound better except for the title track. To my ears there is way too much low end on that one song. Now Walls And Bridges will be a different story. I'm really looking forward to that deluxe edition.
Hm ...it's a subjective judgement, mainly. Could relate to what the listener associates with those songs, etc For the massive marketing drive around Lennon, it's a strong album. Ker-ching and happy Christmas!

Hey Andrew. Can’t wait to get the book. A nice companion to the box set!
Great book. Has lots of nice photos and interviews.
Hint to Olivia and Dhani: please offer us a stand-alone Living in the Material World book!

Thanks Andrew I will be buying this book I don’t have the previous book but this one looks great . Love the T/ shirt 😊
I am going to see One Hand Clapping on Thursday the 26th too! It will be in Chicago, IL for me. Should be great!
I have the other books. I’ll definitely be buying this one.
Thanks!
Thanks Carol, that's very kind of you 🙂👍
I wonder if the 'powers that be' edited out Ms. Pang from the storyline.
🤔
She came in after the fact…

Yep, 288 is about right once you take in to account the index pages.
I’ll skip this I have the book from the deluxe version and that fine with me.
Cheers

A well informed book
I wonder how they will do the Walls and Bridges and Rock and Roll. When they are talking about what was influencing John at the time.

Dear Harold? Harold Wilson perhaps?
Thanks, that's a decent summary, I'm interested.
If it is as well-made as the two previous ones, I'll be a happy reader. So John was a (at least temporary) devotee of Carlos Castaneda... Interesting.
In that case you'd be horrified by my bookcases, they don't look as concise as yours, aesthetically.
